Down here in the Southern Hemisphere, in Australia, people celebrate Halloween without the darkening of the light or the thinning of the veil between the living and the dead.
So the traditional meaning of Samhain, associated with Halloween takes on a different flavour.
(According to Jane Hardwick Collings: ‘Samhain or Hallowe’en is the third and final harvest festival of the year and falls on April 30 in the Southern Hemisphere, even though many celebrate this festival on October 31st, which is actually the Northern Hemisphere date.’)
However, with this Scorpio Dark Moon chart, you could say that we almost have a traditional Samhain feel within the Astrological configurations.
Apart from the New Moon, being in Scorpio, which means it is time for a deep dive into the inner self and/or the underworld for the integration of deeper realms, essential nourishment for the Soul life which needs the balance; we are also in the midst of a very long-lasting Pluto/Mars opposition (Mars and Pluto are in and out of their exact opposition for a record 6 months, with the first exact aspect occurring on November 3rd, 2024, and the final one on April 27th, 2025.)
Traditionally, these two planets in hard aspect can bring violence, war, and rage, and its more day-to-day expression: confrontation, uncompromising and willful or strong criticism and perfectionism. But here in this New Moon chart, it is being modified by an absolutely dreamy and magical water grand trine between Mercury in Scorpio, Neptune in the last degrees of Pisces (according to Heather Ensworth, the Shamanic degree) and Mars in Cancer.
This means that the higher more subtle frequencies have the potential to enter the collective psyche and enter our minds through Mercury, refining and softening the hard traditional meaning of Mars/Pluto, allowing the higher frequencies to re-mind Mars that to just follow the willful, primal urges of the ‘me first’ trajectory will not work if we want to survive together as a collective.
The watery Grand Trine brings soulful sensitivities to the collective, emotional bodies will be attuned to the ethers, multi-dimensional realms of evolution and finer seeing are activated for the New Earth of the Aquarian Age are accessible as Pluto nears its Aquarian destination where it will stay for the next twenty years. The old patriarchal hierarchies have been transformed by Pluto’s last twenty years of so in Capricorn.
The darkest hours are always before dawn, as the old saying reminds us.
If we are not in the hellish aspect of three dimensional reality at present, and have the extraordinary luxury of being relatively safe, dry, healthy, alive, and free, it is so very important for us to feel into our hearts of compassion, to visualise freedom and safety for all, to do what moves our hearts and souls, to make space for pausing inwardly, to a make time and space for Nature and our blessed Earth, to take the time to honour her and our relationship to her. To sleep and rest. To create, create, create, and co-create the New Earth within and without as much as possible. Love.
Stillness.
Gratitude.
Prayer.
Bless.
